The following work has been produced over the last 12 months during exploration and experimentation for the final year of my Fine Art degree course at Plymouth University. They were all created using paints made from materials sourced on the land: clay dug from a pond, charcoal made from coppiced willow and ‘tools’ cut from the hedgerows.

I hope you enjoy browsing. And if you enjoy it enough to want some of my artwork in your life, I’ll be selling prints soon – visit me on Facebook and Instagram to find out more.

If you scroll down, you’ll also find the first pages of my (hopefully, sometime) book, Hear The Earth.

Hear the earth

I produced Hear The Earth for the art publication module of my fine art degree course at Plymouth Uni.

My words and paintings come together for the first time in my practice to explore natural connections: my connection to the land, through that combination of foraged materials and my off-grid, low-impact lifestyle; and also the tenuous connection sometimes demonstrated by a society that bemoans the threat and damage to our natural world, and enjoys recreational time exploring it, and yet still follows a consumerist lifestyle that could ultimately bring about its destruction.

Hear The Earth is in the form of a short book, with a cover and eight pages. I hope to develop the project further when I have completed my studies.
